I don't want to just hate on this film, but they changed too much about the movie, and it felt slightly off compared to the first film. Even the slight change in the color palette is one example. I understand the pressure of coming after a great movie, but it felt too different. They changed the movie based on the time period in which it was released (1998) and made the movie based on what they thought the new audience would like instead of sticking to the style of the first film. They should have stuck to the same drawing style, animation style, and color palette. That, I believe, is what makes The Lion King 1/2 so great. In this sequel, everything was the same, and it really added to the first film. To be clear, I'm not looking at the plot or anything else; I'm only interested in the film's production and animation style. Even the intro was a letdown compared to the iconic intro of the first film. The Lion King 1/2 is a good example of how to take the first film and build on it. Again, we are only looking at animation and production style.
