The cinematography was stunning, mirroring the excellence of the first film. However, I found the portrayal of Joker and Harley’s relationship to be a significant departure from their established dynamics in the comics and previous adaptations. Harley is traditionally the one who is manipulated and driven to madness by Joker's antics, not the other way around. This shift feels inconsistent with the characters' histories.
While I appreciate the creative choice to make it a musical, which effectively highlights the duality of the characters, I believe Arthur Fleck should have been metaphorically killed off, allowing for the emergence of the true, unhinged Joker we all recognize. This approach would have honored the essence of the character, presenting him as the chaotic villain fans expect.
