It is amazing that I am seeing this movie made by my father about 80 years ago even before I was born. When I saw it for the first time in about 20 years ago, the pictures were not clear and the sound was not audible and I did not understand the story. Now I can see and hear much better than first time and it is thrilling to understand what my father was trying to tell the audience then. Korea was so poor that a fisherman's family in a far away ocean side village had to go through such a hard life. The father of the family got killed in the bad storm and the daughter of the family went to Seoul looking for a job and education but only to be raped and become a Kee Sang, a comfort women. She tried to commit suicide but saved by her first lover from the same village. It was surprising to realize that my father was only 27 years old when he started the movie.
