Overall the gameplay is slow and not like it's predecessors. It is overly long and dragged out. The plot seems a lot more childish and 2d and should not have taken over 100 hours to complete. There's a lot more content than previous titles yet the game feels like there's a lot less freedom and far slower paced.
Plot wise , it's very face to face, what you see is usually what is there which is very boring and can get repetitive. The character arcs and bond don't feel as deep or mature as the previous games. They feel forced and skipped over . This is a big part of the problem seeing as character relations is a big part of personas gameplay. In previous titles where we helped characters by developing their personality , persona 5 helps them by simply solving the problem for them in the metaverse. Their is no character building . The only signs of it is when the characters say they have undergone it in dialogue but their is no evidence other than this to back it up . They still act pretty much the same at endgame as they did at the beginning.
The dungeons are far better than it's predecessors however they also can get repetitive. There isn't much to explore in them either which contributes to their repetitiveness.
Alone it is a good game but compared to the previous title its a big letdown personally and is very overrated for what it is. Persona 4 and 3 hold far better stories and character relations whilst keeping the player engaged at all times despite being far older and having much worse gameplay. It's a shame because the gameplay is very smooth in persona 5 yet it still feels boring due to how mild the plot is and how slow it progresses.
