Murakami is for sure one of my favourite authors and I appreciate his writing on such a deep level so for me to rate anything from him lower than 4 stars is definitely a first time. 1Q84 was a vicious cycle of repetitions and unnecessary descriptions (really... I didn't need to have a vivid image of Kumi's pubic hair in my mind). Everything that had potential wasn't explored in depth like how I would have wanted and maybe that's just me but the ending just wasn't it for me. I seriously would have enjoyed a book about the cat town Tengo was reading on the train better than I enjoyed 1Q84. Yet, there was Murakami's touch that had me hooked and the book itself contained interesting elements despite no real climax.
