"And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book." Revelation 22:18-19
It is a very dangerous thing to weave imaginations and storytelling (to fill in the gaps) into the Word of God. The biggest peril is at the expense of those who don't read the Bible and use this film to garner their theology and understanding of Jesus and the stories given to us in the Bible verses from the men who were inspired by the Holy Spirit of God to write EXACTLY what He intended for us to have as His Word for humanity. In the beginning, was the Word (John 1:1) and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). "There are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the WORD, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. (1 John 5:7) The very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. (John 12:48) There is no substitute for the Word of God and we certainly don't need to add to its stories.
"Every word of God is tested; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him. Do not add to His words Or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar." Proverbs 30:5-6
There is SO much made up backstory throughout this film mixed with bits of truth. Yet, it is evident from the reviews that even professing believers are accepting this as sound doctrine.
The production and film quality is excellent but this is a very dangerous project as it has taken the truth of God's Word and mixed it with lies and/or fairy tales.
