I'm no Tolkien scholar but I have read the books and have found joy in LOTR. I went into the series with scepticism but high hopes. My hopes were dashed by the first two episodes. The story seemed hastily put together with too many plots. I started to not like Mrs know it all and I swear if it wasn't for Durin and Disa I would have quit watching. I stuck it out and and happy I did. Each episode sucked less (the writing was almost unbearable to listen too at some times. Like they wanted so bad to sound like Tolkien but ended up sounding like a Confucius joke)
Now after seeing the final episode I understand alot of the "useless" scenes ended up weaving a beautiful picture. I went from hopeful to heart being dashed only to wipe the tears off my face and yell "whoooooo" as loud as I could.
It's a slow starter but I'm already sold
