I used to work with horses on a ranch in my youth. I was a city boy who was put into the country life that way on a summer job 16 years ago. Heartland pretty much rejuvenated my memories into full gear and made me watch it repeatedly based off my love of horses and my memories of getting "down and dirty" in the real ranching life. Very authentic stuff! I love how this family keeps sticking together and riding out the tough times, I love the back-and-forth jibes that Jack and Tim keep trading against each other. Jack couldn't stand Tim in the beginning, seeing as he's an ex son-in-law who ran off on the family, and Tim is clearly not welcome anywhere near the ranch. They trade a few punches and then just insults, followed by jibes, and by a few seasons in, Tim is what helps make the place "Heartland" and he and Jack are in business of running the place together. I love seeing Amy advance in her relationship with Ty. A lot of off-and-on again stuff happening there. I have a lot of sympathy for Ty since he had a rocky childhood and mine wasn't exactly peaches-and-cream either so I can relate to his feelings at many times. Many episodes you can't even keep the tears from falling. This show triggered my emotions and after it does that, I'm sunk for life as a die-hard fan. I hope Heartland can keep going for a few more seasons at least! The more I watch it, the more I want to make a personal trip to Alberta myself and witness that beautiful view of the Canadian Rockies.
