Highly creative, engaging film! Chazelle examines Hollywood’s indulgent, hedonistic, magical, uncomfortable, dangerous world during the rise of the talkies in the late 1920’s. The use, both satirical and sincere, of ongoing movie tropes was wonderfully done. The pop culture references are so numerous and cleverly placed I almost started taking notes. I’m certain university film students will be studying this one for years. Definitely would watch again.
