As a person who has always cringed at Christian movies for their cheesy acting and overtly predictable plots that scratch the surface of tough issues, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from this movie. But the marketing along with Jonathan Roumie had me intrigued enough to pre purchase tickets and take my boyfriend to go see it on opening weekend. I am beyond elated to share that my expectations were shattered as this movie blew 👏🏼 me 👏🏼 away 👏🏼!!! Historical accuracy, powerful acting, soul grabbing one-liners, inspirational music by relevant artists, and a joyful lover story all marinated to make one of the best movies I’ve ever seen! I still have the lingering taste in my mouth 3 days later! It’s a movie I have recommended countless times in the last 72 hours and will continue to share over and over. It’s for everyone: young, old, believers, nonbelievers. Raised in the church, healing from the church, estranged from the church. You’ll tear open old wounds and explore new feelings you didn’t know you had all while healing and reconnecting with parts of yourself that have been neglected for far too long. You’ll be cheering for your faith by the end of the movie! It’s a must-see :)
