Badly marketed as a science fiction movie. It is really about a man dealing with father abandonment issues and his inabilities to connect to people that just happens to take place in space. It could have taken been in a psychoanalyst’s office. Brad Pitt’s performance is good, the special effects are great. The few action scenes seem to have been mandated by the studio, they don’t seem to really connect with the main theme of the movie. For example we learn there are pirates on the moon and the movie just leaves it at that with no explanation or justifications. So if you are looking for an a classic science fiction movie with action, stay away. If you like slow artsy exploration of a man’s psyche go for it.
