As a response to people calling it a "rip-off", consider that a compliment to the creator. Shankar is known for what he calls the "bootleg" universe, and this is the summation of that idea. With equal parts 80s superhero cartoon, Watchmen-esque grit, and plenty of parodying of iconic DC and Marvel, we're left with something truly special. Go in with an open mind and leave behind expectations of what came before, because this experience is entirely it's own.
