I would have liked this film so much more had they not made the toxic, arrogant male the hero in the end. They set it up for you to absolutely hate this guy in the beginning and then expect us to change our minds just because he's good looking and does a couple of good things? I felt like Tyler's personality was so dated. Do men really still act like that?
The original Twister was fun and exciting and not really scary at all. The tornado scenes in this move were much more realistic and scary. The opening scene is a bit traumatic!
I liked Kate and just cannot wrap my head around why she would end up with Tyler.
It also felt like this movie was catering to red voters- the uber masculine male, the country soundtrack, the big trucks and the American flag so skillfully placed. I think some of America will love this movie. Everyone else will say, meh.
