Fantastic movie, a glimpse into lives we would never know about. What feels like a accurate picture of a subculture that is both desperately sad and hugely inspiring. Humans being human, creating culture and meaning for themselves in a world that neither values or embraces them

Well acted but so predictable. I feel like I've seen this movie or something like it so many times. "Be true to yourself blah blah blah". The feel good happy ending is so sweet (and unrealistic) that I got a stomach ache a headache and a toothache. Does anyone really think that things resolve so quickly and neatly? And as for Beth...she was just a prop to help work out Uncle Frank's issues. I would have much rather watched "Niece Beth", a story of a young woman finding her voice and full womanhood in the early seventies, a decade to upheaval. At least balance.and compare her journey.with Frank's. Too many characters used briefly to advance the plot then discarded...yo Bruce...where did you go...why were you there at all? So cliche, put me to sleep. If it wasn't free I would demand my money back
