This game has received some terrible reviews, ones that it definitely does not deserve. For a storyline, this game was absolutely incredible. I played this as a child, and can find myself lost in its tale even now. The plotline alongside fairly expressive character sprites and the amazing music crafts a tale that will most definitely make your heart pound in its more serious scenes. Even as a game meant for kids', you most certainly can play it as an adult, and still find yourself emotionally invested within the chapters.
One thing that truly sticks out from Explorers of Sky is the masterpieces that make up its soundtrack-- EVERY single track is beautifully made, and expresses the perfect feeling for that moment. And despite that, they are all still catchy and moving, amazing to listen to through each dungeon. Chasm Cave managed to capture the dread of the entire situation (which for spoilers, I can't describe in more detail than 'an urgent, seemingly hopeless dark wasteland of a dungeon'), yet still be an absolute banger to listen to. Amp plains, moving and energetic,
with a somewhat exotic feel that's completely on point for the far plains that houses mainly electric types. Temporal Spiral ticked away at a slow pace-- that ticking not only making it feel as if you are losing time, but the leitmotifs of the main theme reflecting your entire journey throughout the dungeon. It's a soundtrack that I'll always find myself coming back to year after year, emotions from those times flooding back as if I had just played through the scene once more.
