I really enjoyed Wild Mountain Thyme. I’ve read the negative reviews that are leveled against the film, bad accents, stereotyping etc. and while I don’t entirely disagree, I myself as an Irish-American felt that they nailed both that insane and quirky irish behavior mixed with the mystical blarney. It worked and it connected me with my memories. The dream about the dead relatives crowding in, is pure irish experience. Sure, it would have been more authentic to cast Irish actors from the region but we already know Emily, Jamie, Jon and Christopher so if you are going to commit take this journey of believing, it’s probably better to go down the muddy path with the devil you know.
