When the show started I was hopeful that what I was about to watch was a showcase of natural beauty and beautiful humanism in large, immersive scale. And, for the first twenty or fifteen minutes that’s exactly what it was. I was on the verge of tears occasionally with how beautiful it was to feel nearly surrounded by natural wonder and human culture.
And then my fear for what the potential messaging could be proved real.
The tone changed completely, showing humanity as depraved and greedy parasites on the planet. Beautiful shots of nature and different cultures and people were spoiled by an overtone of shaming humanity. And then, to add insult to injury, turned to such arrogance to think that we would be capable of sowing seeds of life on other planets while earth itself is reserved only for ‘the few’.
I am disappointed to say that while the venue is impressive in concept, this film completely ruins the potential. Had it been a hopeful exploration fo the wonder and beauty of our current world and all its people in it, it may have ranked as one of my favorite and more emotional experiences. As it was the messaging undercut its potential majesty and left me feeling indignant and cheated
