OMG!!!!! This was so good!!!!! One of the best Wonder Woman films I've seen! It has everything from her lore: her supporting characters (including Julia Kapatelis and Ferdinand) and her villains (including one of her most iconic fights). It shows that Wonder Woman does have good supporting characters and villains which many people don't realize. The movie has a lot of characters, yet it never seems crowded or convoluted. My only complaints are that Julia wasn't as badass as she was in the comics and that Nathan Fillion would've done a better job voicing Steve, Cheetah should've been British, and the animated style could've been better. Other than that, this movie was nearly perfect and better than I expected. I love Rosario Dawson, but at first I was skeptical about her voicing Diana because I loved her as the voice of Artemis and I was hoping Suzanne Eisenberg or Maggie Q would be the voice of Diana, but she did a great job and unlike Keri Russel gave Diana emotions and a likable personality. The Etta Candy we get in this film is the Etta Candy from the rebirth comics and I liked her, they cast the perfect voice actress and were faithful to two components of her character: her sassy and brave personally and her being girly in ways Diana is not. Veronica Cale who has recently become one of my favorite villains finally had her due and her personality and the voice actress were perfect. They sat it up for a sequel and I am really hoping we get one this time. Especially if they include Cale's storyline from Rebirth and Donna Troy.
This was definitely an upgrade to the 2009 animated film. While the 2009 film had a good storyline with Ares and the Amazons, good voice acting, and was very entertaining, that film also had bad animation and made most of the Amazons straw feminists (which would've been fine if that didn't include Diana at some times.) Diana is not supposed to be stoic and she is supposed to have compassion, the 2009 film failed at adapting her personality, while the live action film and Bloodlines succeeded. The 2009 film had more brutal action, a storyline with the Amazons, and a beautiful opening with the Amazons origins, but it failed Diana's character by making her a stereotypical feminist.
Bottom line, if you are interested in learning more about Wonder Woman, in seeing more of her supporting characters, in seeing her have good villains and an eternal conflict, and if you hated the misanderist in the first animated film, then you will enjoy this movie. No man hating in this film and no political agenda either. Exactly what Wonder Woman should be. It was a solid film with heart, humor, and action. And solid and entertaining superhero fillm with likable and sympathetic characters!
