Kudos to my soror, Paula Giddings, for her extensive coverage of the life of Ida B. Wells. The book was replete with historical facts, most of which I never knew. It was an eye-opener to the life of Wells but not a page turner for me - not to say that it wouldn’t be for a devout history buff, of which I am not. It took me weeks to finish, stopping and restarting, but will serve as a valuable historical reference in my library. Although it lists more than 800 pages, about 200 pages are bibliographic notes. It was well documented to say the least and a tribute to Giddings’ extensive knowledge and research of her subject.
