Ys has got to be one of my favourite video game series' of all time and this new title didn't disappoint. I think the idea of "gifts" was quite unique and made the gameplay very interesting as you unlocked more areas you could explore when you unlocked more playable characters. Great storyline as well and it was very nice to hear some voiced dialogue from Adol during the game. My one critique is that it felt like there was less to explore/ do in Ys 9 than in previous games. For example, I remember it took me several more hours to complete Ys 8 (including all the quests) than it did to complete Ys 9. This is only a small complaint for me though, so I'm still giving it 5 stars :)

I love this series - it has the perfect mix of action, humour and emotions. After watching for a while and seeing how the characters develop, it becomes even better. You can begin to relate to each of the characters and their plights. I think the best thing about this series is how relatable the characters are (both the heroes and villains) - it makes the series great to watch because you can find common ground with so many of the characters. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it :)
