I remember seeing this movie in 1973 at the matinee at Benjamin Franklin Village in Mannheim Germany. I was in third grade, and it cost me a quarter!
Like then, and even now, I am thoroughly spellbound by the entire magical setting of OZ, and its characters. There will never be a movie like this again, for the time and effort and writing, the songs and choreography, let alone the special effects that were used to create a masterpiece on screen. I was always amazed at the huge sets, the costumes and the background paintings that looked so realistic.
This movie is timeless, and a hundred years from now, all ages will be able to enjoy it for what it represents, a fantastical journey of self discovery in the most dire of circumstances, and how good prevails in the battle with evil.
