I really thought this was excellent. I watched it twice. It delved deeper into why Scrooge was what he was, having no empathy for others. His deepest and most inner most thoughts revealed. (Some of those thoughts: Can I do something for the benefit of others without expectation of any reward? What does it mean to be human?) Also, it gave us insight into Jacob Marley, their relationship and early years and his death. Redemption was a theme. And lastly, The profound words "Spare the life of him".
