At first, an interesting story. Then as I read further I was hoping to empathize and like the characters more but instead, found them shallow and lacking insight and hence liked them less and related to them less. The feelings and perceptions they held were not believable to me. There may have been some type of analysis to be made but I do not think that was the authors intention. Additionally, the secrets they held and the level of drama surrounding these did not represent a modern era.
