Some Spoilers
The series was visually interesting and I liked that they had people of color in the cast. But the first four episodes were great...and then the fifth one was a gory psychotic mess. The show kind of went downhill from there. We saw less of Dream towards the end of the show, and while it tied up things left loose from the first half, they were things I didn't really care about.
There was also an unrealistic amount of gay in the series. Not just gay characters, but the allusion to gayness. It felt like the show was saying, if you strip back everything about ourselves...we're all just really gay. It was weird. I won't say offensive, it wasn't aggressive, it was just way too much. It didn't feel like it was towards a point or trying to be positive, it just felt exploitative. We need more gays, so they just backed up a big truck and dumped it all over the place.
I prefer more nuance to my representation and not just having random people banging all over the place. Corinthian? Really? With the Boogieman? How convenient! And Garry? It was just too much. Why was Hal a drag queen?
The first half was great, the last half was just stupid. I won't watch a season 2.
