A pet hate of mine is when a film has action sequences that are shot auch that it is clear that the director wanted to produce content that would tie the movie to the computer game. The Hobbit and this episode of Indiana Jones have such sequences.
Further, the story loses its way and becomes farce. I think the director realised that the audience knew how the film should unfold based on the first two episodes and so the normal glue that holds a movie together has been left out. Yes like a roller coaster we can enjoy the ride but the plot and the characters are poorer for their lack of justification.
I think Indiana Jones waited too long to make a comeback and the window has closed for this kind of movie magic. Like the tide of savage ants that consume numerous bad guys at obe point in the film, I feel like I've been dragged into Spielberg's movie.
