I first read this book in the 60's in grade school, and I loved it! I must have read it at least a dozen times. As an adult, I had to own my own copy. I read it to my niece when she was 4,and once I finished,she requested that I read it to her again immediately. I bought her a copy once she had learned to read herself. I also shared this book as a gift to friend's children. I read this to my niece's 2 children. It is a wonderful story of patience and acceptance. Timeless.
