It's alright.
Cast: Robert nails his roles but the rest of the cast was pretty bad. Most of the dialogue in Vietnamese was inaudible. Since it's a sensitive topic and it's hard to get the good Vietnamese cast for it, I understand the reasons. But still 3/5 and 4 points already by Robert. Ms Mori also nails her role; however, she need more involvement.
Shots and scenes: actually pretty dang good. Smooth transition and golden shots. Colors are very vivid and they manage to create a great image of the past Saigon. 5/5
Contents: It was going great till the last episode. I got the message that nothing is more than true freedom, not just the Commie's propaganda freedom. That's arguable since The Captain is now on CIA list of "honors". I disagree with the way they portrayed how "Communism" is taught in those camps. It's true that they do teach the VietRep about all the commie stuff. However, I'm not from that time and I haven't even seen the camp myself so I my argument is invalid and purely personal.
I highly praise the director for his understandings of the yellow flag communities. There were pains on both sides and they need to be communicated.
Content is 4/5
Overalls: 3/5 Because most of the cast was bad. It's not about acting but more about being relevant and suitable for the seriea. Can't have a film about Vietnam without the main cast not fluently speaking the language.
