A very, very good movie! While I enjoyed many aspects of it, such as the wonderful animation, the minions, and the gadgets, I took note of how some aspects of the film were a little…off. It’s a wonderful movie, truly, although looking back on it, it simply felt something was missing. It didn’t feel completely despicable me-ey. The villain’s main theme (I mean his obsession, gimmick, power, not his musical leitmotif) was mildly unnerving, and his plan was slightly disturbing to one of the children in the audience, who I saw covering his eyes at times, and even I thought it was unnerving as well. However, the silver lining of this is when the villain really gets the boot, it feels good to have all those consequences barrel back at him. One of those things where you hate the villain so much, it feels good to see him get beaten up. Watching this in 3D, there were a few scarce moments that really stood out. However, the ending REALLY saved the movie. With an exceptional musical number, the movie really puts into perspective the 14 years this franchise has gone on, and I found myself singing along as well. Words cannot express my happiness here. While the story may be a little over the place at times, and some brief scary moments, (like the gas station scene…) this is overall a VERY, VERY good movie. Seriously though, that ending. Really really really good. What more do I have to say?
