What a wasted opportunity. The cinematography was beautiful, but the presentation of Mennonites couldn’t have been more fictional. The horrible story they tell is true (and ongoing) but as someone who has lived in these colonies, I know this is not how Mennonite women behave and discuss things. Mennonites should have been involved in the making of this film, it could have been 100 times more artistic, intriguing and powerful. Instead, it lacked our true culture and it pushed a feminist/lgbtq narrative which makes this film fictional, basic and downright boring.
