Excellent! Feels like an Indie. Not your usual banal Hollywood film. Everyone is good but the relationship between young Thomas Horn and Max von Sydow is riveting. I was surprised seeing the low rotten tomatoes rating and we saw it as an important film and the story is about a boy who lost his father in 9/11. The entire cast is outstanding but I must say that knowing Max von Sydow was in it caught my attention so picked it up from the library, I knew nothing about the plot, only that Max was in it. Generally I watch mainly foreign films and indies and a rarely anything put out by Hollywood. Excellent. Maybe too deep for American audiences. Enjoy. 2018

I was so drawn into the this film mainly because of Christopher Walken, and overwhelming, breathtaking beauty of its location, Venice, and all the actors were so pleasing too watch. You know immediately that something not right when the over solicitous Walken shows up in a sunny chance encounter, ha, and runs in to the lovers. Why is he friendly. Exquisite shots of Venice and love the ones at night. Venice is the fifth actor in this dark film. Helen Mirren, Natasha Richardson, and Rupert Everett. Young girls receive so many mixed messages about how they should act when their ever changing bodies, and wondering what exactly is femininity. Exploring. Yes, at times scenes are upsetting, just like what I see on tv in advertising with young girls in ads and such but the film is dealing with many issues about what is going on in the main characters life on different levels. Netflix is to blame for sparking the extreme backlash by not using the origin poster that originally came with this film. I think this film deserves a look and like a few films that have received this sort of negative attention, people screaming at the top of their lungs about something they can’t even know about because most have never seen it. If you’ve ever gone to a girls dance recital, well that was far more scandalous for me.
