This is an inspired "what happened next" scenario following on from Dicken's masterpiece, focussing on the much loved anti-heroes of the original tale; Dodger and Fagin.
The story has moved to Australia and the new colony, and Dodge is trying to make his way as a surgeon, forgetting his previous life of crime. Fagin finds him and shenanigans ensue.
It's brilliantly conceived and executed, with great writing and perfect hats-off acting from Brodie-Sangster as Dodger and Thewlis who nearly steals the show as Fagin. The support from Mitchel and Minchin is superb, and a big mention needs to go to Herriman, who plays a truly detestable bad guy - when you hate them you know they are brilliantly acted.
5 out of 5. Can't wait for season 2.
