My 8th graders read this as summer reading, and were so excited to see the movie. Imagine our surprise when we realized 5 minutes in that, so much creative liberty was taken. The differences between the novel and the movie were outrageous. At one point we just laughed at the ridiculousness of it all. Perhaps someone who hasn’t read the book would like it, but we definitely did not.
