As a movie, it will never win any awards. The storyline is superficial, the screenplay verging on childlike and the direction hit and miss. However, the majority of the cast were believable, particularly Rami Malek (Mercury) although how he managed to be audible with the Janet Street-Porter caricature prosthetic teeth is to his credit.
To the film's credit however, the "live" scenes on stage were superb with each actor capturing their character's stage persona with aplomb, none more so than Malek, his posing and strutting as Mercury was exceptional and, with the exception of the Queen songs, the highlight of the film.
