I read Shadow & Bone, and I’m wishing I wouldn’t have. I am so confused because the story line doesn’t match what I read at all. It was a good story, why change it? I understand that another series is also mixed in with this (again, why?) but I’m only 2 episodes in and feeling like I don’t want to finish it. Visually it’s pretty good, acting is good enough, it just feels like someone stole an idea or two from a few stories and decided to make a show with the bits & pieces. Like they threw out the background history, the character development, & anything else that gave the story a soul and made us feel attached to the characters we were reading about, focusing only on cinematography & special effects and calling it good. I may or may not finish it, and maybe it will surprise me but at this point I very much doubt it.
