I know a lot of people seem to love the prequel trilogy better than this movie, but I wouldn't go that far. The Rise of Skywalker is a good film because It gives a not perfect, but decent conclusion to the Skywalker saga. Yes, I have my disagreements with this project, but overall I liked it. I guess my beefs with this movie are that it had a messy plot, and that it had too many unneeded characters. The return of Ian McDiarmid as Emperor Palpatine was a bit random and needed to be explained before the movie was released. I understand that the Mandalorian seemed to just now answer our questions about Palpatine's return, but I still liked that they brought back an iconic villain to aid the dark side. The other thing I didn't like were some pointless characters (Zorii Bliss, Jannah, Rose) that made no impact on the film. I liked how Rise of Skywalker called on the original trilogy (which was obviously the best) and brought back Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill for cameos. They used other original characters (Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2) to contribute to the outcome of the final battle and made it an emotional roller-coaster for some Star Wars fans. No, I wouldn't compare this to mistakes like Attack of the Clones or the Phantom Menace, but I wouldn't call it Empire Strikes Back either. The movie seemed to forget Last Jedi (assuming because everyone hated Last Jedi for some reason) and moved towards a new path. No, this didn't feel the same as the first Star Wars installment JJ Abrams directed, but It was a fitting end to a wonderful saga and I'm so happy I got to experience it. I would recommend this movie to others (though I can't say they'll feel the way i did) and I'd watch this movie again.
