There is something special about this show. First, the discovery of it makes it seem like a real, private gem only I know. Secondly in a loud, crazy, complex world, there is something very calming, very quiet lovingly spent time. The characters in the diner seem like real people, far from Hollywood stereotypes. There is a great deal of comfort the viewer receives from the Master who only has a whisper of involvement with the guests, yet we trust his narration. The actors are uniformly wonderful, we root for their characters. The camera work never overwhelms, the direction sublime. I love this show and watch it before I go to sleep. Yes, about midnight.
