Indian 2
may not fulfill audience expectations as per reviews,
but it is not a fantasy or adventure movie.
Indian 2 reflects the daily problems faced by every Indian in their lives.
If you watch the movie, you’ll realize that people encounter the same government document issues
every day,
month after month,
and year after year.
These issues include:
• Birth certificate issues
• Death certificate issues
• Spelling mistakes in documents
• Name-changing issues
• House bill and light bill issues
• Ration card issues
• Aadhaar card issues
• Educational document issues
• PAN card issues
• Passport issues
• Driving license issues
• Voter identity card issues
• Missing government documents
• Road issues
• Traffic issues
• water supply
• Infinity……………
Even if people have all their documents in order, they can still face problems because of one government officer not doing their job properly.
For example, a person may submit their Aadhaar card to a government officer, but if that officer fails to process it correctly, the individual may encounter issues like name spelling errors.
As usual, we Indians tend to troll this movie and laugh it off.
If someone highlights our weaknesses or problems, we poke fun at them.
Those who troll and laugh at this movie are often the same people facing these issues daily.
If we look at Indian cinema history, there are only a few movies that address the problems faced by Indian people.
Notably, many of these films are directed by Shankar -
such as - Indian (1996), Mudhalvan (1999), Anniyan (2005), Sivaji: The Boss (2007), and Indian 2 (2024).
Years pass, yet we continue to face these issues every day.
Shankar is the only director who takes these people’s issues seriously and showcases them on the big screen in a
larger-than-life manner.
While nobody in India openly talks about these problems,
a few directors take them seriously, including Vetrimaaran, Pa. Ranjith, Mari Selvaraj, Anubhav Sinha, Nagraj Manjule, and many more.
If we take Indian 2 seriously, perhaps government officers and the government will take Indian problems seriously as well.
We may troll this movie for a day, but the government continues to overlook people’s issues year after year.
