I five this series two stars because it has amazing scenery. Where it falls flat is in its storytelling. The Harfoots feel out of place, and don't feel at all like something Tolkien would have written. There are small details missing that would have been nice, such as Ungoliant destroying thee two trees instead of Morgoth. The Orcs are probably the best part of the show. It's fascinating to see the Southlands before they became Mordor, and how the Orcs survive before Sauron takes over. Galadriel has been a complete disaster of a character. She doesn't remotely resemble Tolkien's Galadriel. She is OP when it comes to physical combat skills, but we haven't seen her use any magic which was her specialty in LOTR. She also has no diplomacy skills which feels wrong for someone who's lived for thousands of years.
Overall I found this series to be quite boring. I'm going to finish out the season, but if it fails to captivate me, I won't be watching the second season
