(Warning : slight spoilers, discussion of racism, and racial injustice) It just really depends on which angle you look at this show, from the view point of show-casing discrimination against black people in the 50's it does very well. It taught me things I didn't know happened and really makes you sit back and think about their treatment (the actual severity of treatment from white neighbors who were not okay with black people in their neighborhoods, how slow progression in the work force was, how covenants were used or not, etc.) and it gives really well connections to modern-day discrimination. It also does a great job at showing how people really felt about integration. It also does show a side of how vulnerable and careful black people had to be in times like these. I do also have things I disagree with, like why do they themselves have to be a reason for their own destruction? Like they were already going through the worst torture from people in society, why behind closed doors were they not only fighting against society but their family and their selves? They had no help what so ever, they didn't even trust themselves which just made the show a lot harder to watch, yes they did eventually get through it but why did the show introduce these problems for them, that they themselves had to deal with by their selves. I mean yes the white people in the show had their own issues but they worked together, it was just the fact that the family we follow always had to be against each other, and that all the other black people in the same situation have to be against them and their selves as well. I get what the writers were trying to accomplish by giving them personal struggles, and of course the over-arching racism struggle, but I don't like how they made them struggle alone seeing as through they were already struggling. But overall this is a pretty good show, it is not for the faint of heart, it's really hard to watch, but if you are a fan of Jordan Peele movies, learning about the struggles of black people throughout history, or are just are in need of something to watch on Prime I really do recommend checking it out and forming your own opinion.
