Qu: Re the MH370 New breakthrough episode. >>
WHY does Australia need Malaysian Govt. approval to recommence this search - with this new evidence? Is it merely a courtesy convention between nations and national airlines? Or an International legal Impediment? And if the latter, does / would such a legal impediment have any real 'teeth' if an independant search by the Australian Govt. - or any other party - were to be successful? The Malaysian Govt could hardly protest such an outcome! They would be forced to be grateful whether that was their real view or not.
The Australian Govt. has more than sufficient "Skin in the Game" - as in :- years of committed specialist expertise and equipment - Millions of Australian tax payers Dollars - & last by never least; the Australians on that flight. I say we go - and FAST. This Govt. needs to be able to distinguish where the limits of international diplomacy lie and where ongoing responsibility to the lost and the endlessly waiting families / loved ones resides. And - if moral bankruptcy and dedicated self interest narrows funding decisions to only those that are guaranteed vote winners - what do they think THIS is?! Even if nothing is found - the Willingness to try again is critical in the eyes of the public. {That's my two cents - for what it's worth... } Regards, Lin Monash
