Spectacle is one of the best TV music shows that I've ever seen - and my memories go back to 'Oh Boy' on BBC in the 50s, 'Ready Steady Go' in the 60s, 'The Tube' in the 80s and of course Jouls Holland's 'Live' which is stll going. I missed Spectacle when it was shown on Terrestial TV and have just recently found it by chance. I've long admired Elvis Costello for his multiple creative activites though never a great fan of his singing - maybe because I couldn't always pick out the words. Anyway, he's up there now in my pantheon of the greats. The show - half chat and half music making is special for its complete disregard of gossip and celebrity, and its focus on music making. Elvis Costello is a generous and phenomenallly well informed host. I'm grateful to whoever put up these high quality YouTube recordings of the show.
