The film has never strayed that far from my consciousness since seeing it in 1973. It is no less haunting 50 years later and may still affect my sleep. Julie Christie is no less enchanting than in Dr Zhivago and seems to have a real chemistry with Donald Sutherland. I have seen several psychics and none are more genuine than the psychic character in the film. I wouldn't imagine that the movie did much for tourism in Venice but it nevertheless is essentially treated as another spellbinding character.
