A Suitable Boy - So this is the latest on NETFLIX, an adaptation from a Book written by Vikram Seth. I haven’t really read the book, but I’m sure of it being super engrossing of course! So despite the book being about ordinary people, the story is definitely not! This web series which is all of 6 episodes is directed by Mira Nair, an American Indian filmmaker who specializes in films for international audiences on Indian society. A Suitable Boy opens in 1951, in northern India, four years after Partition.. It gives the insight of society that prevailed during those times in India with a lot number of issues – political and religious turmoil being one of it, faced during those times. A Suitable Boy may be revolutionary in its perspective but very conventional in most other ways. But I do believe the ensemble is doing justice to their roles and with time we will become more attached to them. I for one will be rooting for the show. Enjoyed watching this kinda series which had a topic so different from the ones that are being aired currently on all different platforms..!! Overall, to those of you locked down in these troubled times, draw the curtains, sit back and lose yourself in this luxurious and beautifully-rendered drama.
