I've seen most "horror" films released in the last few years and I'd say that this one is far better than most for just a few simple reasons.
1. Acting
2. Sensory experience (score, costuming, cinematography)
3. Scares
The main actors all were believable and performed well (minus one of the child actors who was meh...but she's a child)
Music meets location are awesome. The final scene...the beauty met with disgust is something I've never seen before and LOVED.
There were a few jump scares that really got me. But the film did more than just the bare minimum of jumps. The appearance of the Nosferatu was just scary enough to look evil but also believable!
This element usually ruins horror for me...case in point, Smile 2 ( liked it until they showed the demon which looked super fake and silly)
Oh, and there's folklore, possessions and steamy sex!
The one minus, it was a bit of a slow burn so I took off a star for the extra 20 min that felt unnecessary.
