Science Time

Intrinsically not a bad film at all. Very much an origin film, and we all know they pretty much always get panned in reviews, also a lead cast of four women was never going to do well in reviews on IMDb (seems to always be the case, but completely unsure as to why 🫢). If you are a fan of comic films, it's a decent watch and worth the time, in fact the final 30 mins really ties everything up quite nicely and gives us a sneek peek into what is to come for our four protagonists. However, if you are only interested in action films and reallu only like them for the over the top fight scenes, like those in the marvel films and don't really care about characters and things like back story then this isn't for you. Also, probably isn't for you if you have an issue with female leads in films and / or disliked The Marvels for example, be it for that reason or just a general dislike of that kind of campie plot. Sorry to be so brutally honest, I mean I may be wrong (and if so, I am sorry) but that is how a lot of the bad reviews of this and in fact The Marvels comes off.

(More proof, most game critics now have no idea 2/5 🤦‍♂️, absolutely embarrassed for these "Professional" game critics). Anyway - Are you a fan of 80's movies, cult classics, and pop-culture TV and Movies? did you enjoy the lego games? If so this game is probably for you. As a kid who grew up with 80's films from Blockbuster on the TV all the time (as my dad loved 80's action films) this game is a great buy, there are a ton of call backs to some classic franchise, along with a decent amount of newer series and films like Umbrella Academy. It is just a really well put together game, a little simple for some maybe, just shooty hack and slash, but it has some nice mechanics, it's easy to play and not overly stressful, just clean good old fashioned fun, and tbh, I feel you can never have enough of those games, especially when is all you want to do is chill out after work. Do not buy, if you have no love for the franchises they have chosen, or ypu are looking for some kind of deep experience. This game is closer to Cozy than COD'y. Do buy if you have l9ve for a decent amount of the franchises here, maybe have a bit of nostalgia for the 80's, and enjoyed the lego games or collect the figures.

As someone who grew up with Star Wars thanks Dad), and has played the games since Jedi Academy, through multiple iterations, like Knights of the Old Republic, Podracing, Lego Staw Wars, and the newer games, like Fallen Order and Survivor, I can confidently say, this is one of the best Star Wars games to date. Yes, we all love using the force and slicing and dicing everything with a lightsaber, but this just hits different. The lore is all there, the locations are beautiful, the story is well crafted, I haven't had any crashes or graphical issues, and the gameplay mechanics all work beautifully. For some this game might be a challenge to enjoy as you aren't all powerful, you can die pretty easily, and you aren't going to be fore filling that superhero power fantasy that most Star Wars games have you role play. This is however, IMO a good thing, the market is a little flooded with this type of game, especially when it comes to Star Wars. But here you are fighting to survive your lot in life and make a name for yourself as a smuggler, thief, spy, saboteur, whatever you need to be to pay the bills. The faction system is simple yet, always leaves you with a choice of who to please and who to irritate, which essentially means, that you can't make everyone happy. However with careful contract choices and decisions you can still get all the faction specific goodies, so this system doesn't feel punishing but your choices will still be impactful to you gameplay at the time depending on who you have sided with at that point in the story. The music in the game is also absolutely fantastic, with it hitting a beautiful balance between Star Wars and the situation you are in, while also not feeling like a rehash of the John Williams score of the past films and games. The score is so good in fact it has made its way into my weekly listening while at work, and hits about the same as the Mando soundtrack. The world hit a good balance between being full of life and desolate in a way that is appropriate to the planet you are on, the Empires presence also feels exactly right for the time period the game is set in, with them actually being a real force to be reckoned with if you push your luck to much and get a full wanted bar. Overall this game feels comfortably familiar in its setting, but refreshingly new within the list of games and styles within the franchises catalogue.

Solid MMO for the most part, less complete than Warframe, but this game has only just released and Warframe has been out for a LONG time now. Gives off Destiny / Anthem (the minor areas of good that were there) vibes as well. Graphically very pretty, if not a little..... ummm.... over endowed in some areas. I do question some of the outfit choices and options, they don't seem super convenient or even supportive enough to facilitate easy of movement in a combat situation 😅, but it is what it is given the developer. Overall, definitely one to watch, and tbh, as it is free to play, you might as well give it a go.

Good film tbh, but as with most films with a female lead, it has been panned on IMDb (no gender argument, just an observation of that trend, take from that what you will). It's basically Titanfall the film. Decent amount of action, pretty good plot, nice twists and turns, and J-Lo puts in a fairly solid performance as our lead character. Again, don't really get all the hate as most of it is just nonsensical noise, all in all, I personally enjoyed it.

Sorry, what is all this hate over the movie. I just watched it and it is a great film (like not in the classical sense to be studied in film school of course, but in terms of a comic book film). It felt like a true to form Marvel film (I guess it therefore had an appropriate title). It has action, superpowers, cool space stuff (no spoilers though), some solid scene design that draws you in to the world, and a great big screen performance by Miss Marvel. Not only that I felt that it was a solid story that had great pacing throughout, and for me at least felt very easy to follow. The only reason I can see for all this hate and review bombing is maybe something to do with the lead cast, but we won't get into that. As someone who grew up with the Marvel comics, and the 90's XMen (still definitively the best iteration of that franchise, sorry Huge, your a close second), this film took me back to the roots of what made Marvel good in the first play, over the top dumb comic book fun. But hey, what do I know, I've only worked in the industry for a decade and been a fan of comics for 20 odd years. Maybe if you are approaching this as an action movie fan, who likes to see buff bros kicking butt on screen then you might struggle, but if you like Marvel in general and don't have an issue with a heavily female cast then this movie is absolutely worth your time. Note: make sure you have watched the Miss Marvel series first and the previous Marvel films first.

Lots of haters who are fans of the Arkham Batman games but who clearly don't read the comics, or know anything about the Suicide Squad beyond the movies. Sad really. Plus the people who decided to review bomns the game, such a toxic anti-gamer thing to do. Plus we have IGN being salty little children because they didn't get a review copy 🙄. I mean there is a reason that all the reviews where people have to actually own the game to post a review have scores like 9/10 (steam) and 4.6/5 (XBox), but all the places where you don't need to prove you have even played it have terrible scores like here, or metacritic. But hey, on to the review, about 20 hours of game play so far, mainly co-op with my partner and tbh, this game is a hell of a lot of fun. The combat is smooth and slick, the special moves look epic, and the shooting is on point. The enemies are varried enough to keep you on your toes and the mechanics to deal with the different types are fun and not so overly complex that it gets in the way of being a absolute wrecking ball. The characters are all pretty distinct and feel different to play, the world map is Metropolis and a pretty faithful recreation, so feel familiar to fans of superman and had all the hallmark locations you would expect. The supporting cast are also all their, but I won't list them for spoilers sake. All in all, if you are a fan of DC and the SS then this is a great game, quite action RPG in its execution, but leaning more towards the action side of that genre. So far I haven't come across any bugs, the graphics are really good, and fit the world well, plus, despite the fact it can get very very hectic on the screen, I have dropped any frames. Seems to be well optimised, and well QA tested so far. I haven't hit the end game yet, so can't say what there is after completing the story, but I imagine by the time I get there and level up all of the characters there will be new content for the game, given it is a live service game. Side activities and mini missions are all in the game as well so right now I have plenty to keep me busy. Pros: Great adaptation of the SS, and retelling of the Braniac saga, faithful recreation of the city and its cast of character outside of the SS. Smooth frame rate, good graphics, plenty to do, great feeling combat, good gunplay, nice light RPG system, free to respec anytime, still has good build potential if you wanted to get into it. Cons: If you are a fan of Arkham Batman and want more of the same, this isn't for you, and it does live up to its title, so you might not like the story. Some of the jokes and themes aren't appropriate for children so maybe not one you can play with your younger brother ot sister. It's better co-op, but there is a tether system. Outfits are good, but there is a paid market place so if you are into cosmetics then it may cost you to get the look you want. Future content is coming, but with no real details we don't know if this game will have a long life or be a flash in the pan.

Amazing game, hardly any bugs or glitches (at least in my 50 odd hours). It's just Oblivion and Fallout 3 in space, without a doubt, BGS best game so far. Unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of people who I doubt have even played the game who are trashing it in reviews. Which is crazy childish and just anti-gamer.

Redfall on Series X - seen a lot of hate for this game, and oddly that actually encouraged me to see how bad it was. Seem fine tbh, at least on Series X. The lack of a performance mode is a little disappointing l, but by no mean game breaking. The fram rate is fine, the graphics are fine, and the game play is actually pretty fun. It doesn't do anything amazingly inventive, or have any ground breaking genre defining features, or even anything that makes it a game you absolutely must play, but over all, it is a pretty fun game, that doesn't look that bad, has a enjoyable story so far, and some neat features, activities and gameplay mechanics. Definitely not deserving of all the hate, and certainly not a game that should be getting review bombed so hard. 🤷
