Ozzie acting, Neighbours with a war room. Would have been better if the actors had received less direction, been given more scope to interpret their characters in a more subtle and fluid way. As is, soppy and shouty. Story had a lot of potential as a decent political thriller.

Suburbia: shallow needy conceited life of humble bragging about material conveniences and world conquering vapid happiness. Block the less heroic tale by surrounding yourself with similarly aggressive religious corporate bureaucrat sycophants. Obedience and uselessness dressed up as Freedom loving patriotism. Contrast with a courageous artiste battling for her truth and love in each moment. Oedipus complex for women. Fail to rebel against Money as teenager, vote in violent dimwitted demagogues in 40s. ...the Oedipal male failure, control by debt, the passive aggressive claim on motherhood, might is right trumps all. Utterly brilliant central narrative with just enough pleasing 'sugar' to keep the laughter and tears flowing.
