Martys, if we are talking about the original film, is in the Torture Horror genre. Think Saw. Think Hostel. This film does not exist in a vacuum. Given that premise, what does it do with that ? A lot. I think this is a GREAT use of the form and genre. I think that time will be kind to this film because it it written filmed and executed in such a smart and concise manner that is soars above others in the genre. The terror heer is dread, and dread is missing from the rest of the genre. Dread and hopelessness.right until the last act. This is mind bending new ground in the genre.
