An absolutely beautifully animated period piece, with so much attention to detail. I watched this after Kengan Ashura (very good btw) and Onimusha (decent), but this is on a different level. I would put this on par, maybe just below the incredible Arcane animated series, also done by Netflix. I watched this with no expectations and was gripped from start to finish. Yes it followed the usual tropes of revenge movies (I’m 43 now, so I’ve seen a lot), but as with all excellent stories-it’s not so much the base story as the WAY its told and HOW it’s executed. The action sequences, the voice acting, the scenery and the music/sound is top notch. And considering this is animated in 3d and then appears to be ‘toon shaded’, it doesn’t look as clunky and the animations are very smooth. The plot is brilliant, with plenty of twists and turns, and without spoilers the ending leaves you definitely wanting more. Let’s just say Netflix could have their hands busy over the next few years with the lush and beautiful world building they have started on. Bravo Netflix, you’ve done it again 👏🏻, here’s to many more series like this please 🙏🏻. (Marvel and Kevin Feige please take note, this is how you create a worthy female action character)
