This is a great book. As a PhD chemist and retired professor as well as a person of faith, I loved the way that science and theology are interwoven. I would recommend that persons of faith read the "Afterward" and "A Conversation Among the Authors" first though. The book is true to what is known in science about the Big Bang and the 14 billion years that follows, but it is in my mind also theologically sound addressing some difficult questions such as the story of Adam and Eve and the incarnation. From a literary point of view it is not a dry retelling, but an entertaining way to tell the story of 14 billion years that uses a proton (and his fellow subatomic particles) as witnesses, witnesses that think, react, wonder and doubt. I hope many will read and enjoy this book as I have.
