Carmen Ortiz – Google

One of the best movies I have ever seen. And one of the most chilling. With me, it's personal, I had a mother like that one crazy woman and I tried to kill myself because of her, when I was 19. I guess I was the sixth sister based on age. Same upper middle class type. Obviously I failed in my quest. To make it more in tune, most of the music they played were some of my favorites. Made me think back to what it may have been.

I just turned 74. We read this book in elementary school. This is one of the few books that I still remember from my childhood. We even were given a project to use paper mache to make one of the animal. I chose a anaconda snake and her babies. Plus, I learned a lot about the Amazon River. Not quite up there with The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin, but close. I live close to the source of the Mississippi River due to the second, learned enough not to want to live near the Amazon river.

I just turned 74. This book is my number one book from my childhood. I first read it in elementary school many decades ago. I know some people think it's not "politically correct". They ignore the relationship between a white boy and his friend a black adult, who was also his role model. The imprint this book left in me is such, that I now live within walking distance to the source of the Mississippi River and my daughter has agreed to do as I requested for when I die (no plans for that in the immediate or distant future), that is to take my ashes to the river and let them float down the Mississippi. (The water at the source is not polluted. lol) My favorite part was the friendship they had and the fact that Huck was such a free spirit.

I would give it a zero but that's not an option. Ridiculous movie which has a plot that most have been writen by the various, no longer relevent actors, who were mostly lousy but got jobs who know why. As scary as a birthday party for 5 year olds. I take that back 5 year old kids are scarier. Lots of yelling and this can't be. Pretty boy, what ever his name, can't remember, was the worse of them all. With pals like him who needs enemies.

Definitely liked this movie. They were trying to make a movie that was unique and they did it. It did not followed the usual over used recipe for a "horror movie". The young actors did a great job. It's about how some people can be so evil, self centered, that they have no sense of morality and they don't care who they hurt, even someone who is as close as can be, who would have been just a child at the time.
